Dynasty Smalti mosaic glass is a high-quality, hand-cut tesserae that adds beauty to both modern and traditional mosaic art.
Dynasty Smalti offers a wide range of colors at affordable prices. The smalti comes in various sizes and is available in both modern and antique shades.
Note the colors within the Modern Range are compatible with each other, as are the colors within the Antique Range. However, do not mix antique and modern smalti in kiln artworks. Due to its handmade nature, expect to find both straight and irregular pieces, which contribute to the charm of smalti. Reshape the smalti using mosaic tools to suit your mosaic style.
Here are the available sizes and pack options:
Bricks: 100g pack, approximately 36 pieces, $7.00. Size: approx. 18mm x 8mm x 8mm. Keep in mind that these hand-cut bricks may not be perfect. 100g of smalti bricks cover approximately 9cm x 9cm surface area (3.5 x 3.5 inches). The quantity of bricks in each pack may vary based on their size and weight.
Blocks: 100g pack, approximately 12 to 16 pieces, $7.00. Note that block packs contain a mix of straight, irregular, and sloped edges.
Slabs (Thick): Approximately 14cm x 14cm x 6mm, 0.4kg, $9.50 each.
Sheets (Thin): Approximately 14cm x 14cm x 4mm, 0.22kg, $9.00 each. Both slabs and sheets have two sloped side edges.
Also on offer: mixed bags, irregular mixes (Rotti), remnants, and offcuts.
Material:
*combination of recycled and new glass & natural pigments and oxides.
Tools:
*easy to cut using a wheeled nipper, side-biter or traditional Italian Hammer + Hardie tool.
Mosaic Methods:
*apply using direct, indirect or double indirect methods (mosaic on mesh).
Adhesives:
Thinset, Weldbond, Prep. Select a glue to suit installation conditions and mosaic method. Smalti can be embedded in coloured (tinted) thin-set to eliminate grouting.
