Shape with the Leponitt Mosaic Wheeled Nipper Tool / Metal Tile File. 
This tile is transparent yellow, so consider your adhesive.  White thinset will give a brighter colour, black thinset will give a deeper shade and Weldbond will show your substrate, underlayer or design.
Test it by placing over different colour paper to see the special effects you can create!
